Devlog - Random Chance Encounter (WIP)


Hey there again! Been hard at work on a telephone project in the SRPG Studio University Discord. Now that it is 99% complete, I came back to Seven Seals to work on that random chance encounter I mentioned in the last Devlog, one of my major goals for Version 1.7. (The Versions aren't necessarily that important beyond organizing each file, but I plan for each Version to be based on the Chapter the game's story is in.)

How this works is through an Automatic Event. As you cross the border into Grozyan, there is a 10% chance a switch triggers, causing the rain to appear and the Spawn to.. Well, Spawn! They will then chase you until they catch you, or you seek shelter in one of the towns. They will try to block your path and make it difficult for you, forcing you to think carefully about your moves- as you cannot traverse as easily in the rain. If you evade them, the map will return to normal- get caught, and you'll have to fight the Spawn in a challenging battle. This can be good to gain experience on easier levels, but should be avoided on hard or above.

Each region will have a different chance of running this event and feature unique music, unique maps, etc. Each playthrough can be entirely unique through this method!
